The Leaders, Learners, and Earners program, initiated in 2021 as a summer camp for underserved and under-resourced youth, is now part of Upstate Circle of Friends' overarching Circle of Success program. This program was developed by Ms. Toya Moore of Nprogress Consulting, LLC, in response to the needs identified through collaboration with the Department of Juvenile Justice and justice-involved youth. Focused on holistic personal and professional development, the program aims to provide comprehensive support to help youth thrive in all areas of life.
Our Leaders, Learners and Earners Program incorporates several tenants into the activities, but the focus is on middle and high school grade advancement, career and college readiness and entrepreneurship.
Our program uses evidence based curriculums and subject matter experts from the community as a part of these activities. These topics also are culturally relevant and specifically address the needs of the Black and LatinX communities that we serve.
When serving our youth, we address the needs of the student learner, as well as the needs of the primary parent/ or guardian with our Parent University/Parent Engagement Program. We provide Leadership Training, referrals and supportive services through our Parent Leadership Partners program. We added the Parent University as a way to help with resources and information in the community so that the parents/guardians can feel supported. We recognize that when parents/guardians are supported, then students/youth participating in our programs tend to thrive.
